FOTD!

 My smokey matte FOTD using:
Lioele BB cream, Skinfood concealer, Etude House powder, Jill Stuart blush, TFSI, Soft Ocre PP, Gesso e/s, matte slate grey e/s, Sleek matte black, blacktrack fluidline, Diorshow mascara, lipgelee in lust is lush.

Although the only thing I have to do today is go to the post office and do some grocery shopping.

Got to do some assignment work today as well. Finally dyed my hair again! Before I used a shade called 'golden blonde' which was a little darker and
more warm toned than my normal medium blonde.

Oh and that green tutorial that I filmed yesterday is NOW on my channel. I had the edit about 30 seconds out to make YT upload it, but it's finally uploading!

I'm might film a quick monthly haul video and do some work!

Have a good day guys!
Julia

Bento!

Pink rice, cucumber chicks, cherry roma tomatoes, tuna tamagoyaki, cucumber and grapes. Just a quick one for the busy day tomorrow!

Sweet dreams!

First Tutorial!

Hi guys, just a quick lil' post about my first tutorial. It's currently uploading but be sure to check it out on my channel here. The only part of the video that has been edited is the beginning, but other than that every step (and ramble) is there and intact. Of course you don't have to use MAC products at all; I'm just using what I have.

Not Forgotten

Afternoon all! The weather is beginning to go a little grey and stormy, so I'm thinking of making a soup for dinner. Today has been a little uneventful; I watched another couple of episodes of Men of a Certain Age and compiled a few lists. Over the next few weeks I'm going to be hauling a few more Asian products that I look forward to reviewing, either here on the blog or on my YT channel.

Assignment due date was pashed back 2 days, so I've gotten a little lazy hihi. I do intend to film a tutorial a little later in the week too. I also fixed new nails and tidied my makeup storage today.

Hopefully tomorrow I get the last remaining scraps of mail I've ordered; still waiting on an electric lash curler and Etude House foundation. I'll be sure to review the foundation as soon as I can try it out. Although Etude House is a major Korean brand it's something I've overlooked quite severely; I've fallen for Lioele and Skinfood quite hard.

Well guys I'm off for a little while. Might film a quick makeup tutorial actually!

Cooking Me!

Taking a break from my studies to do some cooking! Namely, a pie, cake and a curry. Hopefully my cake turns out ok; I can cook complex savoury dishes but sweet stuff throws me off. For some reason I can't make cookies! Even if it's the ready made dough that you cut and cook, I still manage to ruin them. But that's a rant for another day.

Kitty-chan!

Just found this and all I can say is OMG!

Morning! This morning I woke up early and am raring to go on my assignment. Got to do a few small errands and a mail run later in the day, but as this small essay is due tomorrow afternoon at 5pm, it's got to be done. Although originally I was going to choose a more complex question, I'm going with something much more simple as the next essay is considerably longer and I can use the more complex question for that one.

I'm just about to go and change into elasticised pants and make a quick bento for the day. Will be staying off facebook and blog until this is half done, but I can't make any promises!

Good Night!

Study time! I've spent most of today studying and sleeping so now I'm in for another quick study session and then bedtime. The last few days have been hectic and I found out today I missed the submission of an online exam! But my brother assured me that as long as I can make up what % it was worth (5%, but still) I won't fail. Massive relief and a mental slap that I should pay attention.

But I do have a tutorial to film over the next few days after assignment submission that I can't wait for. And I'm getting back into making bento as well, with a few BOTD's to post when I find my camera cord. But Next week we will make the trip for me to get a new camera for me to take photos and record videos.

But away to the studying! I have a can of V next to me and some dark chocolate too.

Let Them Eat Cake!

Evening everyone! Very slow updates as I turned 18 today. Got woken up by Katy jumping on my bed, but the joke was on her as I rolled over and she saw my nekkid top half. But we ate chocolate and made plans to go clubbing in the city all night for next weekend.

But now I'm off to eat more pink cake. Have a good night!

Back, but still with slow updates

Hey guys! Just wanted to give another heads up. I have assignments due for all of next week as well as my birthday being on Tuesday, so my updating is going to be a little more inconsistant than it already is.

But in other news I finished Heavy Rain again! My ending was still the same but I did some scenes differently (my Ethan got caught in Marble street and my Jayden busted him) and finished it at 6am this morning. Now I'm on a mission to grab the DLC and do that as well. But I also have an idea of a few video tutorials that I'm doing in the next month.

I love video games and for my YT channel I'm going to do a series of looks inspired by elements/characters/era of that game. Mass Effect, Gears of War, Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid and Prince of Persia are on my list and I already have a pretty good idea of the looks that I'm going to do. I'm not sure about how many looks I'm going to do with Mass Effect and Gears of War, but I will be having only 4 looks from Heavy Rain.

It's safe to say HR is my new most favourite thing in the world. I even downloaded the soundtrack to listen to; it instantly changes the mood of any room I play it in.

Slow Updates Today

Hey guys!

Slow updates today. I have to go to the uni and try to NOT murder my Dad. Today is full of issues but tomorrow will be a better day!

It's a Beautiful Daaaaaaay!

Woke up to see the sun shining bright! It's meant to rain later on today, so I'm just going to get a few necessities (strawberries? Check. Chocolate? Check.) and a few extra's to make a cute donut cake or something equally as yummy. Also came across this graphic of a few different cute cakes.

See the artist's page here.

But first there are still a few errands that must be taken care of before any baking of yummies.

Enjoy the sunshine before Winter bites down!

Still feeling very under the weather, but am now armed with yummy strawberry ice cream and Ouran High School Host Club anime. Loved that anime for ages now; I named my now 2 years old kitten (he's still looks 8 months old! He's so tiny!) after Tamaki.

My Kitchen Rules is on in 40 minutes as well. And my YT videos are still having issues uploading. But I'm using the MovieMaker upload option, so hopefully it does something this time!

And check this out! While I'm not quite as 'kitty-fied' this really makes the men in yourlife twice before questioning..........THE KITTY! Hihi

Well I'm away for now guys. Trying to make blogging more of a habit instead sporadically, but sometimes I think I may be posting and it's a bit boring. But this is a blog about little ol' me, so I don't feel so bad!

New Videos!

Woop Woop! I'm about to take a cold and flu tablet and crash, but I just did a few short reviews on my Youtube channel which are uploading as we speak. But my channel is here.

Dr Phil is looking like the program de jour for now.

Have a good afternoon guys!

And my current soundtrack: Go T-ara!

Sick Today!

Sick today! Have woken with a fever and bad throat and voice :(. So my video has been pushed back another day as I can't record the voice over while sounding like gravel. But I'll still make a small bento and I'll make sure to take pics this time!

Hope everyone else is having a happier, healthier Tuesday!

MKR!

Who else is watching My Kitchen Rules? I've developed a recent love of the show and a re-ignited passion for food. Tonight the teams cooked at the Sydney Kids Festival and the interior of the festival was so colourful! My favourite team is Daniela and Stefania. Maybe it's just that I love the food they produce and the donuts they served tonight look YUHmmy.

Mum made a chilled strawberry cheesecake today too and it's the dessert de jour for the new ep of Family Guy on next.

BB Cream Overview

Good afternoon!
As promised, here is my post all about BB creams and a general review on the ones that I own.

BB cream stands for blemish balm cream and was originally formulated in Germany for medical patients to use after surgery. This soon spread to Korea and after several high profile celebrities began to wear the cream, the beauty industry swooped in and began to produce and market BB cream for the mass consumer market. There are many different types of BB cream, with many containing SPF, anti-ageing, whitening and skin-clearing properties.

BB cream has a very narrow shade range, with some brands producing only 1-2 shades. Many BB creams also oxodise upon contact with oxygen to a half or full shade darker than their original shade. BB creams that claim to have whitening properties also have a tendency to contain a grey tinge. BB cream is similar to a tinted moisteriser, however it often has a thicker consistancy and low to medium coverage.

I first came into BB cream from the beauty blog CosmeticCandy and it's been a downward spiral since. For me, BB cream has become an essential in my collection. It was my HG everyday product in senior year of high school and I haven't stopped raving about it since. As Australia is considerably more expensive than the US and the UK, BB cream has been a welcome alternative to overpriced drugstore foundations. They are also an average of 40-50g per tube and most come with pumps. Perfect for the discerning germaphobe or product waster.

(In order from left to right) Fresh swatches
Skin79 Diamond Collection Pearl BB cream, Skin79 Diamond Collection The Prestige BB cream, Skin79 Triple Function BB cream, Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream, Missha Perfect Cover BB cream in shade #21 Light Beige, Skinfood Gingko Green BB cream in shade #1. Please note, that unless a shade is listed that particular product only comes in one shade.

(In order from left to right) Swatches of bb creams about 45 minutes later after oxodising. Please note this was taken before the fresh swatches, for some insane reason.
Skinfood Gingko Green BB cream in shade #1, Missha Perfect Cover BB cream in shade #21 Light Beige, Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream, Skin79 Triple Function BB cream, Skin79 Diamond Collection The Prestige BB cream, Skin79 Diamond Collection Pearl BB cream.

I'm a MAC NC15, with combination skin and mild discolouration. Due to the heavier feel of some BB creams, it glides over my dry patches and shows no obvious flakies. BB cream can also be layered underneath foundation to provide additional coverage. I like to team most of my bb creams with my Skinfood Peach Sake concealer, YSL Touche Eclait or Maybelline Mineral Power concealer and topped with translucent powder.

Reviews

Skinfood Gingko Green BB cream: provides sheer to low, buildable coverage. It's the lightest BB cream I own next to the Skin79 Pearl one and has the strongest (but still very mild) yellow undertones of any BB cream I've tried. It has a medium-thin consistancy and doesn't favour oily or dry skin; I found it did nothing to assist in the 2 problems and it does not list as containing SPF. As with all Skinfood products, this contains natural ingredients that are made to benefit the skin.

I like this BB cream for those days when I want to pop on something that's sheer or to put on underneath my foundation. It's also my go-to BB cream for a late night shop run and I'm looking a wee bit worse for wear. It feels the most natural on my skin. It's also the only BB cream I own that doesn't have a pump, but is a squeeze tube. It leaves a mild dewy finish, borderline satin.

Missha Perfect Cover BB cream is one of the thickest BB creams on the market. It comes in the tradtional BB cream style pump tube and provides low to medium buildable coverage. It's also got the highest SPF I've seen, boasting an SPF 42pa+++ and other skin claims. I like this for the days when I'm going to be out in the sun a lot or as a stand in for my foundation. It feels a little heavier on the skin than my other bb creams.

It leans more grey due to it's whitening 'properties' and also oxodises the most. Personally, I felt that this offered nothing more than mild moisturisation and SPF; the claims of whitening and anti-wrinkle have shown no signs on my skin. This is also the MOST hit or miss BB cream that I've read about, due to mineral oil being a key ingredient. This didn't break me out at all, but I'm lucky to have skin that dislikes almond oil rather than mineral oil. For oily skin you will need to blot/powder after a few hours. It leaves a satin finish on my skin.

Also, this is the only BB cream that I've found that extends from an NC10 to about an NC35-40. However don't quote me on it! The new lightest shade I have had the benefit of seeing (a Christmas present for a paler friend)and it's definately for the palest of pale girls.

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream is one of my favourites. It has a neutral undertone and is a tiny bit too dark for my skin after oxodisation. This is definately something for the combination dry skin girls; it leaves a dewy finish and feels very moisterising. It's a little thinner than the Missha and feels much more natural. The tube has a pump and a generous 50g. It also is the cutest BB cream tube I've seen so far.

It also provides the best coverage I've found so far at about a medium buildable coverage. One thing I've also noticed about this BB cream is that it feels almost a little tacky after application; powder adheres very well to it. One interesting thing about this BB cream is that it looks matte in pictures. This does only come in one shade however and best suits an NC20-25, maybe an NC15 at a stretch. This doesn't contain any SPF, but I've never suffered any burn from wearing it.

Skin79 Triple Function BB cream was a product I wanted to love SO FREAKING MUCH! It comes in a nice hot pink tube with a pump and provides slightly heavier coverage than the Lioele. But it oxodises way too dark for, topping out at about an NC25-30 with a slight grey undertone. This claims to whiten the skin and have anti-ageing properties.

I didn't get to test this out thoroughly as it was just too dark and I looked a wee on the pancake side. It's a little more suited for oily skins, but it accentuated a few of my flakies. It left a more matte finish than my other BB creams and I didn't need to blot at all. It has a neutral undertone, SPF25 and comes in only 1 shade.

Skin79 Diamond Collection the Prestige BB cream comes in a cute pink pump tube that's similar to the Triple Function, but a little thinner and taller. Alas, it was also too dark but provided a little lower coverage to the Triple Function. It's also one of the thinnest BB creams that I've used and it blends well. It also claims to whiten the skin and assit in anti-ageing, but for the short time I wore it I saw no difference. It provides low to medium buildable coverage and leaves a slight dewy finish. This seems much more equipped for drier skins than the Triple Function. It lists as not containing any SPF and comes in only 1 shade, with a mild grey undertone.

The Skin79 Diamond Collection Pearl BB cream seems to be the inspiration Revlon used behind their Photoready foundation. It's VERY pearly and shimmery, with a strong pink undertone. it has very sheer to low buildable coverage and leaves a dewy finish. Not for the oily-skinned in ANY way, this was way too much to spread over my entire face. It was also pretty thin and one of the palest BB creams I've seen. Used very sparingly underneath my foundation, this brightened my skin but accentuated any discolouration I had. I've ended up using this on my nose and cheek bones. It also has a mild grey tinge to it and has the same skin claims as the other 2 Skin79 BB creams I've reviewed. Granted, the packaging does give the impression that this is intended to be used a highlighter, so perhaps I'm just a bit blonde?

And that wraps it all up. I've never actually tried any of the BB creams made by Etude House, but I'm doing an Asian beauty haul in the coming weeks and intend to pick one up. I'm also in the process of testing a few new BB creams that have landed in my mailbox (including the Maybelline one!) and will report back in a couple weeks with a review.

Pat on the back if you managed to make it this far through the post and if you have anymore questions leave me a comment and I'll try to answer it as well as I can.

Fooling about in a sea of COLOURR!

Back again. Lol and the extra R's in the title are meant to demonstrate me singing it.

I also have another tab open with the in progress post about the bb creams I own. Swatches, reviews and recommendations are within! But for now I have a few eye looks that I was playing around with today.

Please note that 2 had no eye liner as I was wiping it off straight after. It's also why I'm not wearing anything but blush.

Go me! Now to finish on my bb cream post and make a bento for tomorrow! I bought the square type 'plastic' cheese so it might be time to give the cutters a workout.

Update!

Just a quick note before I get into my studies. I have the day off for most things tomorrow so I intend to do a group review of all the bb creams I own tomorrow in natural light. Tonight I will be writing a list of future reviews/product entries so that I can tick them off as I go along and have a sense of structure.

But studies cannot be ignored anymore, although my kitty is presenting himself as a fine distraction hihi.

New Video!

Don't mind the late timestamp. I fell asleep at like 5pm and woke up at 11pm, so I'm pretty awake.

Granted, I didn't look as cute and my camera has a bit of trouble focusing, but I finally uploaded it! Well, because MovieMaker was making me pull my hair out and I have got a full version of Pinnacle, it's unedited and a bit long. I do intend to do more videos as it filled some time and I had fun doing it!

Current soundtrack for today is SNSD's 'Gee' and 'Oh!'.

I have work and the beach tomorrow, so I think it's abandon ship and off to bed.

Dueba Big DM 23 Circle Lens Review

Here it is, as promised: my review of the Dueba Big DM 23 circle lens in blue from HoneyColor. To my knowledge, circle lens are not sold in stores here in Australia. I'm also unsure if they are approved by the Australian FDA (cannot for the life of me remember as to what this is actually called).

Circle lens are lenses aimed at enlarging the iris of the eye and creating more animated or 'dolly' eyes. They can change the eye colour (to a degree) and be as bold or natural as you like. They can also be 'plano' or have a prescription. Most sites include a free lens case with each pair. These are approved by the Korean FDA but NOT by the US FDA. This does not mean they are unsafe in any way, as the US FDA also banned Vegemite from the US for having too much vitamin B12. And this is a fact. As with any other contact lens, circle lens should not be slept in overnight or worn for more than 10 hours. Just use common lens sense.

These are my first pair of lenses; circle or otherwise. The colour for these lenses is similar to sky blue, with a darker blue closer to the rim and then a black rim. These do not have a circle for the pupil in the middle of them and have a gradiant style, making them a much more natural option. They are 14.5mm and come in brown, blue, grey, green and pink.

The Dueba Big DM 23 lenses blended extremely well with my natural, icy blue natural colour. They didn't look too overtly unnatural, nor did they offer minimal enlargement. My brother did call me an alien and my stepdad refers to me as 'frog eyes' everytime I wear them.

Also, before I start to discuss the comfort level with these lenses, please note that I use Refresh Tears Plus eye drops for dryness and irritation after putting in my lenses, after my makeup and every 3-4 hours of wear.

As these are my first lenses, I'm afraid I have nothing to compare them to. But I have worn these for 10 hours and they are as comfortable as they were when I first put them in. It's not uncommon for me to fall asleep in the car with them in, but never for longer than 25 minutes. I change my solution every time I open the lens case and clean them every second wear. I have forgotten that I was wearing them a few times as well.

Overall, I will definately buy these same lenses in another colour as they left quite a comfortable impression. I also hope to be extending my lens collection after moving.

My make shift photography studio! Pikachu was too shy to strike a pose hihi. Now off to the kitchen to bake something yummy in the rainy weather.
